"Today's senior high school students are faced with a very serious decision: which faculty to choose and which degree will open the door to a successful career at a time of economic crisis and uncertainty? The degree from METROPOLITAN University does not only bring knowledge. We are aware of the responsibility to transfer knowledge which will really help young people become successful - knowledge recognized by the best companies, such as ORACLE, IBM, Microsoft, Sybase, Com Trade - Spinnaker, London Chamber of Commerce and other partners of ours. After years of working at Universities in the United States and Singapore, it was my wish to transfer the experience and develop the same standards of education in our practice. Because of this, I believe that our students are differentiated by the high degree of knowledge of the newest technology and skills practically applicable in most modern conditions. Such practice is confirmed by our lecturers from the New York Institute of Technology. They, along with us, permanently improve and develop the curriculum. It will remain specific by the methodology we apply: other than the ability for teamwork, we use methodologies of learning through solving practical problems, we develop students' creativity and independence in work, ability for innovative thinking, new approach to problems, ability to integrate and implement the newest technology and investigative spirit. Leadership qualities and high professional and ethical standards are the things we ask from them. We want to provide the highest quality of education for our students. Their employers are the only ones who can evaluate if we have achieved that goal. This is the reason why we closely cooperate with the leading companies, and we believe that we are good only if they are satisfied with the knowledge and the skills of our students. We believe that the students with our degree will find every door open".

Mission Statement of Metropolitan University

The mission of Metropolitan University is to contribute to the educational, cultural, economic and social improvement of Serbia, by providing advanced bachelor and graduate studies in the areas of information technology, art and management, as well as continuous professional education. Metropolitan University provides students with an introduction to the up-to-date technical concepts and practice in several scientific and art areas: information technology, management of IT systems, operations management, marketing, management in sport, graphic design and interactive media design.
Students are educated to identify and evaluate modern and up-coming technology in order to determine their applicability in dealing with customer needs, as well as analysis of the impact of technology on individuals, organizations and the society, including ethical, legal and political aspects. It is necessary to demonstrate understanding of best practices and standards, as well as their application, demonstration of independent and critical thinking, as well as skills of problem solving.
One of the basic skills of such educational system is to enable students for teamwork, in order to fulfill the common goal of integration of personal initiative and group cooperation, developing abilities of effective communication and efficiency in working with clients, users and colleagues, both verbal and textual, with the use of adequate terminology, as well as understanding the need for continuous learning throughout the career. Metropolitan University is specific by the methodology it applies, since, other than the ability for teamwork, it develops creativity and independence in work. It develops abilities for innovative thinking, new approach to problems, abilities for integration and implementation of newest technology and investigative spirit. Leadership qualities, as well as high professional and ethical standards are the things we ask from them.

Thanks to the partnership with leading companies, such as IBM, ORACLE, Apple, Microsoft, SYBASS, Spinnaker and London Chamber of Commerce, students can find the newest technology available. After updated curricula and a total of 300 hours of students' internship in companies in Serbia and Europe, they are completely prepared to tackle the most challenging business tasks.

From the Faculty of Information Technology to Metropolitan University

The Faculty of Information Technology - FIT was founded in 2005. It was created in line with the principles of Bologna Declaration for European System of Education. The curricula in the area of Information Technology were created in compliance with the recommendations of the American Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers IEEE and ACM, which direct the curricula of American Universities in the area of Information Technology, to meet the demands of companies, government organizations and other institutions. Thanks to this fact, FIT degree is easily recognizable worldwide.
As a pioneer in introducing distance learning, FIT enabled, for the first time in Serbia, studies through the internet, for students who do not live in Belgrade, or cannot attend lectures in traditional mode for business reasons.
The modern market dictates the need for directed education of future employees. FIT has always followed these needs, and during the first years of its existence, it developed other six majors in the areas of management and design.
There is a thread of specific features which have created a recognizable image which was transferred to a more powerful institution, Metropolitan University. Metropolitan University consists of four faculties at the moment:
